2025

The next iteration is planned for 2026

After another successful BAD-BSID Research Techniques Course at St. John’s Institute of Dermatology, King’s College London in November 2024, the BSID would like to invite UK institutions with research-active dermatology departments to host the next iteration of this lab-based training course in 2026.

The course is designed to allow Dermatology trainees or trainee doctors committed to a career in Dermatology to be exposed to basic lab techniques to spark their interest in skin research. Laboratory skills such as PCR and immunofluorescence are taught in a hands-on manner with theoretical sessions giving background to the techniques and their relevance. The host institution will be able to select the techniques taught to match the local expertise.

This course, funded by the BAD, usually run every 2 years and is attended by approximately 12-15 participants.  The host institution would have costing for staff and consumables to deliver the 2-day-long course. BSID committee member Dr Catherine Wright will have oversight of the  2026 course and would work with the researchers at the host university to deliver the course. Please use the Contact Us Form to make any expressions of interest.
