Ms Jessie Nie is the First Recipient of the BSID Collaborative Research Award!
2024
At the Annual Meeting 2024 the BSID launched the BSID Collaborative Research Award, open to Early Career Researchers (ECRs), i.e. clinical fellows, PhD students and post-doctoral researchers, who are BSID members and wish to visit a dermatology laboratory to learn a new technique or to carry out a short-term collaborative project. The award aims to support young skin scientists and foster collaborations, offering up to £3000 towards relocation costs and/or research consumables.
Two ECRs applied to this first iteration and underwent a competitive selection process overseen by the BSID Committee. Ms Yuanjinze (Jessie) Nie, a PhD student from Newcastle University was selected as the recipient of the BSID Collaborative Research Award 2024. She will visit the lab of Dr Matthew Caley to carry out a project on “Engineered Caf1 Proteins to Enhance Wound Healing in Junctional Epidermolysis Bullosa Cell Lines” at the Blizard Institute, Queen Mary University of London.
Congratulations Jessie and all the best with your visit!
